To restore the reliability and smooth shifting of your Volvo’s 6-speed TF-80SC transmission, we perform a comprehensive internal rebuild. Our process targets the exact root causes of wear, delayed engagements, and rough shifting.

1. Internal Friction & Seal Replacement Over thousands of miles, internal wear components degrade, leading to slipping gears and hydraulic pressure loss.

  • Friction Plates & Brake Band: We replace all worn friction plates and the brake band with high-quality components to restore full gripping and holding capacity for every gear.

  • Rubber Pistons: We install brand-new rubber apply pistons to guarantee a perfect hydraulic seal, preventing the internal fluid leaks that cause shifting issues.

2. K1 Clutch & Teflon Ring Precision Adjustment A very common complaint with the TF-80SC is a noticeable, annoying delay when shifting from Neutral or Park into Drive.

  • To eliminate this, we meticulously adjust the internal clearance of the K1 clutch pack and install upgraded Teflon sealing rings. This precise calibration significantly reduces engagement time, ensuring an immediate, smooth, and predictable shift into Drive.

3. Valve Body (Hydraulic Control) Repair The valve body is the complex hydraulic "brain" that directs fluid pressure to change gears.

  • We fully disassemble, clean, and rebuild the valve body to correct sticking valves and pressure losses. This prevents harsh upshifts, heavy downshift "clunks," and erratic shifting behavior.

4. Torque Converter Rebuild The torque converter acts as the fluid connection between your Volvo's engine and the transmission.

  • We fully rebuild the torque converter, replacing its internal lock-up clutch mechanism. This eliminates acceleration shudder, reduces internal heat, and restores optimal fuel efficiency and power delivery.
